Let the work week begin. Are you ready? January has begun fast and furiously. Who said January is supposed to be slow?
Take your vitamins and get your rest so you don't get the viruses going around.
Good football game UT vs. Ohio State tonight, Tostito bowl. UT pulled it out in the last few minutes.
Made sour dough bread today. Made sour dough sweet bread today too. I thought I had made a mess out of the sweet bread. I didn't dilute the starter before cooking with it. The dough was VERY sour. I added molasses, sugar and oats to try to tone it down. I almost trashed it, but baked one batch to see what it tasted like. Not too bad, I baked the other two loaves too. Now who will eat my bread? Isn't that a line from Little Red Hen?
We watched part of the game too, but we were rooting against tu... just because they are tu. ;) Homemade bread sounds yummy. I have a bread machine that I think I have used all of two times. I really ought to pull it out and use it more often.
Happy New Year everyone! Have you had your black eyed peas and cabbage for luck and prosperity? It's a family tradition, my aunt called today to ask if I had eaten mine today. I had and enjoyed it very much. I hadn't eaten that kind of a meal in a long time. Do you eat your black eyed peas alone, on cornbread or rice? I also had an aunt that would wrap a little piece of cabbage in foil the size of a dime and put it in her coin purse. It was seed money, so you'd always have green in your wallet.
ah...of course. black-eyed peas over rice w/ cornbread! fresh ham. today, we had collards. hot sauce. woohoo! the only new year's day tradition that has been going on for about 17 years is: i run around with 5 women (AnnBonnieCarolDianaSherry) the ABCDS. every New Year's Day, sometime during the day, we get together and renew our 'friendship vows.' did it today. good times.
Happy New Year! No real traditions here, and I've yet to eat black eyed peas at New Years! I didn't here about that tradition until a few years ago, really!
Ryan never did figure out what the rash was caused from. The only thing he could think of was is that he had worked at a different hospital the day before he broke out. Maybe they used some weird cleaning stuff. We'll probably never know!
hey mrs. candy I was just wondering if it was ok when the singing is for me to come there and possibly stay with you guys for the weekend, also do you know when the singing is???
My wish for you is that you have a peaceful, merry, happy, and healthy holiday, and that you make happy memories with your loved ones and friends. Enjoy your family and your blessings. Be calm and patient, no matter how stressed you may be.
Love to all of you and have a happy New Year as well.
Our Christmas is mostly over! We opened all our presents except to and from my mom on Sunday night since Ryan's family is here. It was a lot of fun! No Christmas Eve shopping for me!
Yes they do. In Stonehaven they throw fireballs. In Castle Gate there is a concert. At midnight all the ships blow their horns. All different and it sound really need. Have a happy new year!
Man, I can tell you I don't know what I was thinking. I used to always ask my kids (when caught in the act of misbehaving) what do you think you're doing. I clearly wasn't thinking right. I took a sub job in the copy workroom at the highschool. I think they tried to kill me last Monday and Tuesday. I worked from 7:00 to 7:00 on Monday and 8:00 pm on Tuesday. I threatened to quit on Wednesday and it has been a totally different atmostphere. I was able to go home at 4:00 on Wednesday. I admit I'm a whimp. We used about 12 cases of paper in two days. One more week and then whew I will need a rest. Who knows when we'll get Christmas together. I need to make a list so I can get some things done.
How many of you are on schedule for Christmas?
I'll get off here and get busy.
Work = yuck. I'm so not on schedule for Christmas. I got some stuff done today but not much. :( I hope you can still make the rolls for Christmas dinner. Let me know what I can bring for our Christmas breakfast.
Hey hey. I was wondering if you possibly knew when the singing at y'alls chruch is and if its possible for me to stay 2-3 days that weekend? I was wanting to come to the singing and hopefully stay the weekend to spend time there for a couple of days to see you and your family along with a few friends. If you could please let me know that would be great. I sent a message to Linds on facebook to her but I also wanted to ask you to make sure that it would be ok as well. Love ya lots and hope that you and your family are doing well! Lots of love!
I was done shopping a while ago. However, we're doing my family Christmas this weekend, and I haven't wrapped anything (which is a long process for me - I love the bows and making them pretty). :) This week, I have an ornament exchange in Humble tonight, dinner and White Christmas downtown tomorrow, church Wednesday, dinner with some friends Thursday, and volunteering at the holiday party in Jeremy's class Friday afternoon. Sometime in there, I need to make the cutout cookies I make every year for our family Christmas, oh, and the candy I promised to make for Jeremy's team at school. So...um...I think I'm behind schedule. Hehe.
P.S. I don't think you're a wimp at all. Working in those workrooms is hard work! I volunteer at Jeremy's school some on Friday afternoons, and it's just an elementary school, but when I end up in the workroom, I leave exhausted, and that's just for a few hours!
Today while Lindsey and I were shopping we noticed Frank (from Trading Spaces) also shopping. I have seen him around the area the past few years but I never attempted to verify my suspicions. Today I had to say something. I asked if he was Frank and he said no he was Santa Claus. We continued to talk and he said he had recently gotten off the phone with Hilde. She lives in India and is in the middle of all the turmoil. He said she was safe. He was so funny, he wanted twist ties for his bags that hold the fruit. I told him to tie a knot in it. He was obsessing about something not important. I ask if we could take a picture with him, he was very gracious and said yes. He later went to the bakery and got his twist ties and called us over and gave us twist ties. We helped interpret his list. His wife had 2 people waters and 4 dog waters. He wasn't sure what that meant, small bottles for humans and then gallons for the dogs. He also was telling us about having a grand child and being excited about Christmas. Wild wild wild, enough Frank talk.
I had training at school yesterday and today. I start work tomorrow and work through the 19th. I'll be in the work room. Pray I keep my sanity and hearing. There are 4 BIG copiers in there going all the time. I know I'm crazy for taking a job the busiest month of the year. If I don't get everything done, I'll just have to regroup later.
Have a great week and keep smiling.
We have the greatest reason on earth to rejoice!
How cool. I liked that show! And his designs were at least something I could live with ... Hilde's hay textured wall and cardboard room were beyond me!!! (Although I am glad she is ok!
I LOVE Frank! Jeremy and I sat next to him and his family last year when we went to Taste of Texas just before Christmas. He was so jolly. :) I had heard he lives in Katy. :) How fun!
That's so cool! I like Frank. I didn't know Hildie was in India?! Did she quit Trading Spaces??? Good luck with work. It is a crazy month, that's for sure. Wish you could work in my room. :)
Did you ever figure out what you were allergic to? Or if it was allergies making you itch? Ryan came home from work today itching and a rash all over his back. Now it's spreading to his legs and arms. He can't think of anything he would be allergic to, though. Hope you are feeling better!
