I hope that everyone is having a happy new year so far. I am trying to think of some new goals for this year. Not exactly resolutions but things that I think can help improve things in my life. My main goal is to be more organized. I can imagine myself being organized, I'm just not quite there yet. I decided to take things slowly and maybe before long I will start seeing little improvements. I recently realized that the craziness in my life didn't happen over night and it's not going to work itself out overnight either. I plan on doing a little bit towards that goal every day so that it doesn't get overwhelming. My closets, drawers and cabinets are screaming out for attention!
They will get it starting Monday.
I am also going to read the Bible through this year. In the past couple of months I have read through II Kings and I am excited about finishing. I tried to do it in 90 days which isn't working too well. It might have something to do with the fact that I started right before Thanksgiving and my mother's surgery, she is doing well, but I kind of put my reading on hold while I helped her out for a week. Then I put it on hold while we were traveling for Thanksgiving, on hold when Jonathan and I got sick, on hold again for christmas travels...etc. I am picking up where I left off, but I think that I'll take it slower this time. I also intend to spend more time in Prayer. We are studying Prayer on Sunday morning and I love this study!
Each year starts with goals related to food and this year is no exception. I decided that I am not drinking any sodas in 2009. This one is a little scary for me. I didn't drink many sodas after we got married, I just fell out of the habit somehow. Then I started drinking diet sodas and then I just let myself have whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. That has changed. More water for Trishie. I actually love water, so I don't think that it will be too hard. I just have to discipline myself for those times that an ice cold coke sounds really good. Today I was in Walmart and I saw a display of Pepsi that made me want one really bad. I don't even like Pepsi so it was easy to resist once I remembered that. Diet caffeine free Dr. Pepper would have been a bit harder to resist. Another thing that I want to do is to plan out a weekly or monthly menu. I can't decide which. This could also fall under the better organizational skills goal. I haven't done this yet, because we just had the last of our Holiday company leave this morning so I'm a little behind. I'm going to start most of my goals on Monday. I did already start the no sodas thing. The menu I think will make it easier to have things on hand and have meals ready when Jonathan comes home. I plan to use my brand new digital Crock Pot as well as my old one a lot more this year. I also hope that by planning our meals ahead of time I will be able to make healthier meals for my family.
Finally, Jonathan and I have the goal to be more active in 2009. We already are doing better about that. Pepe needs his daily excercise and we benefit from it as well. Over the Holidays we kind of slacked off but we are starting that back up again. Our little Puppy is much better behaved if has his daily run. Pepe will keep us on our toes in this area.
I hope that you all are doing well with your 2009 goals so far.
By the way, last night I dreamed that I had a barbed-wire tattoo around my upper arm. I checked this morning and thankfully it was a dream. Some people could pull it off, but not me. :)
Trishie, I think that you could totally rock out that barbed-wire tattoo! ;-) I haven't really made any goals for myself this year, although i probably should. Good luck with yours!!!
Okay - I'm with you on the no cokes! I am the same way. I don't mind water, I just get out of the habit. I'm also trying to be more active. Chris got me a pedometer for christmas, so I'm all set.
Your goals sound a whole lot like mine. Except for the cokes thing. I have found that I need a coke in the morning to help get past the morning sickness. But just one a day and no more. I fell behind on the Bible reading too because of the Holidays. I'm almost done with II Chronicles. It is a HUGE repeat of I & II Kings. I love my Crock Pot. I too, have tried to be better about having dinner ready for Jonathan when he gets home. The organization part is something I want to get better with. I wish I had more plastic bins and containers to assist me with this, but those things can be expensive.
Ok, I was going to post pictures from our family Christmases, but I can't do it for some reason. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. It's just hit or miss and this one was a miss. I hope that everyone had a great holiday season. I know that I did. We Celebrated from Mid December when we got our new and improved computer, until today when Jonathan's family left. It was crazy stressful, but mostly in a good way. There was a very sad event during this time. I went to Bowling Green yesterday for a funeral. One of my very good friends lost her fiance in a car accident on Monday Night. I thought that his family really honored her at the funeral, even though she wasn't yet his wife. I hate that his life was cut short, but he was at a point in his life where he was diligently striving to serve the LORD, so everyone is pretty confident of his Future. I'm sure that Becky and his family will appreciate prayers for months to come.
I decided that I need to finish painting my house. The main bathroom is the only thing that still needs painting, but it also the room that needs the most work. Today my sister and I started tearing it apart and I do believe that we have bitten off more than we can chew. I am pretty nervous about it. I think that Jonathan can probably fix what we've, umm ... broken. I know that Ethan, Suzanne's husband can definately fix it, but he will probably ban us both from any DIY project afterwards if we need his help, He's way too busy with real important things to help his wife and sister-in-law with their little goof-ups. We like to think that we are DIYers that don't really need professional help, but we are fooling ourselves. Argh! What to do? Let me show you some Before pics, which are actually an after we tore things down pics. Here's the ugly bathroom.
I saw the pics on facebook! It doesn't look too terrible. Surely a little wall plaster and paint will do the trick! i always start projects and poor Chris is left to finish them!

Ok, I was actually going to post it on my page, but couldn't get it to copy/paste right so I gave up. I have gotten so far behind in my reading...I'm very disappointed in myself. I have decided to stop and start again after Christmas. This time of year is crazy with holidays and Olivia's birthday. Not an excuse, just let myself get carried away with other things.
Okay, I don't feel so bad ^ I have gotten abou 2 1/2 days behind. Being in the hospital for 2 days with my dad really got me behind. I'm going to try to make it up today. Pray for me. :>)
I'm still behind on the Bible reading. I'm still reading everyday but as I feared once you get behind a day or two it is hard to get back on track unless I devote an entire day to reading. I just finishing I Kings this morning. I will try to start on II Kings some time this afternoon. How about you? Where are you?
I'm at II Kings 4. Jonathan is pretty far behind. I think he is in Numbers. I don't know how slow you want to go? It might be easier with the Holidays in full swing. We could read maybe like 5 chapters a day until the end of December. What do you think?
Hey Trish thanks so much for trying to make it. We had just over 20 at the study. The singing was awesome, and shook our small 3br house:) We are planning on having a study and singing every 1st saturday night at our house at 6.
The work at Lexington is going great. God is beginning to provide the increase, and we are working toward more growth
I appreciate the encourgement, and Lauren and I pray for you and Jonathan as you labor in Savannah
and hope to see you soon. How is the work there?
