a niece of our best friends from St. Louis. They got connected over church of christ singles I think. She is from CA, but all her family went to church at kirkwood with us. Weird how things like that work out! Her name is Kellie.
I needed 20 of the little 2" ones to decorate our Christmas tree. And I needed one normal-sized Angel ducky to top the tree.
I'm sure you're wondering why I'd decorate a Christmas tree with rubber duckies.
While Dan was in college and I was visiting one weekend (pre DanielAndTrevaesa), we made a late night trip to Walmart, where we found a fun green rubber ducky for a dollar. On the spur of the moment, he of course bought the rubber ducky.
Green Rubber Ducky sat atop Dan's computer monitor for a long time... until we got married and he moved in with me. After moving, Green Rubber Ducky remained atop the monitor.
When we moved to Lebanon, we bought an "adult sized" Christmas tree with Christmas money. We could neither one find a star or angel that we liked (let alone wanted to pay so much for) for the top of the tree. Finally it dawned on me... Green Rubber Ducky should nest atop the tree.
At some point, Green Rubber Ducky fell from the tree... we found him the next morning with half of his face eaten off... Poor Green Rubber Ducky. I hope Scamp enjoyed him.
While we can't make a tradition of sleeping outside on the trampoline on Christmas (though we did one year), and I can't convince Dan to sleep in a tent in the house every Christmas... I do intend to carry on the tradition of decorating our tree with ducks. Green Rubber Ducky will always hold a special place in our hearts. This year, we're going with yellow ones.
Hey maybe you can get a small tree and keep it decorated with yellow lights and make one of your bathrooms duckies? Like a child bathroom when the time comes. I would love love love to have a seasonal tree up all year and just change the stuff on it, I have friends that used to do that!
Obama was elected. He has socialistic policies. He has immoral policies. He has unconstitutional policies. He will not lead our nation in the way that our forefathers intended. I daresay that many of our forefathers are "turning over in their graves" at what the United States of America has become.
John McCain, however, was not a candidate that represented conservative, moral, or constitutional policies either. He was perhaps not as liberal as Obama, but he was still not representative of the values that our forefathers penned in our Constitution or the values that I claim as a Christian.
George Bush was the same - he claimed to be conservative, but his policies were not conservative in the least. He did not use sound economic strategies, he did not value human life, he did not abide by the 4th, 5th, 8th, or 14th amendments. (Go read the U.S. Constitution if you don't know what I'm talking about.) Yet no one seemed to think President Bush was the end of our free society.
Now we have elected quite possibly the worst candidate available to lead this nation. Everyone is spouting "end of the world" rhetoric and is finally concerned that this nation is going to crash and burn. I wonder... where was your concern when Bush was destroying every shred of the Constitution with his policies? Yes, Obama (if he actually gets sworn into office after being made to reveal his place of birth) will be the end of the world as we know it.
And I really do feel fine.
You see, Obama is simply speeding up the downfall of our nation, which was inevitable. Under Bush, and continuing on to McCain, it would have been a slower downfall... more of a floating with a parachute, if you will. That parachute was going to eventually fail and we were still going to crash and burn. But now that Obama has been elected, we will free-fall instead. Perhaps more painful, but we will be able to pick up the pieces much sooner.
We, as a society, need to be awakened. And, just as under the Bush Administration, we would have stayed sleeping with McCain in office. Obama will be a blaring wake-up call to our nation. Things will get so very bad under his leadership that people will finally start thinking about our roots as a nation. They will wonder what ever happened to our Constitution and our morals and they will begin to search for the way back to where we began. With open eyes.
Open eyes are what we need. I'm sad to see that it has come to something as bad as Obama to do it, but it had to be done. Our nation would not listen to the candidates with sound Constitutional policies that would lead us in the right direction. People like Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin and Alexander Hamilton and Todd McAdams and me and Daniel and Benjamin Franklin. No, we were just "crazy" and "old fashioned" and we didn't "understand how times have changed."
I am excited that, amidst all of the ungodliness and destruction, there is yet hope. A light at the end of the tunnel. A blossom sprouting forth from the hardest of soil. An melting of even the hardest of hearts and an opening of eyes that had been blinded. Help us bring back morality. Stand with us to defend the Constitution. Join us in the revolution.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Phil 4:6
nice post......I know that John McCain was not the best either, but I sure voted for him so there was a hope to stop Obama. I really think this is an eye opener for everyone and I really hope that morals are kept. All we can do is pray about it and know that God is in control. We are blessed to be on the right side !
Very good words, I am glad that I meandered over to your blog. For me-- I am madder then an old banny hen when rude awakened--so maybe that is a good thing. Peace to you and yours.
I believe there is hope as well. I'm just frustrated with the way people deal with what they call "politics". i'm hoping that people will now turn to God when they didn't before.
Hi. I know you...you used to go to Jamestown. I keep seeing your name and finally went over here and I know you. Infact. I think one time I saw you at a store in Leb. and said hi and I don't think you had a clue who I was....
I don't think epople have their eyes open yet. My history professor things it's going to be great under Obama, she doesn't see how this is going to go. It really saddens me because she was my favorite professor on campus and I really thought she was brilliant.
That's a nice post. And I've actually left that group. There was one guy who wouldn't quit putting everybody down whenever they said anything. And I'm afraid Texas won't be seceded :/
Yeah, I thought they were toys until I heard this guy play it. If you get a chance, look up "Somewhere over the rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. It's beautiful!
no..it did not fit. Oh well, she hated all the kids anyways. She had to be put in our room with Nathan so she would not bark. She was mute until that night. really...she never barked....
