We had a terrific Thanksgiving at my sister's house in Madison, IN. 35 of us were able to be together this year. We came from 6 states and 3 time zones. California, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky. We had enough food to feed "an army", but I think we had a small "army." Especially if you count the teenage boys who eat a lot.
One of our big Thanksgiving traditions is for the ladies to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving! We get to leave all children behind with our husbands. I think the leaving the kids with the husbands part became a tradition after I lost Dustin in a big mall. What made the whole thing worse was I didn't know he was lost, because I thought he was with someone else. I think he was about 2 years old at the time. Obviously that turned out to be a happy ending.
This year there were 9 of us who went shopping. 5 of us left home at about 7:30a.m. The other 4 caught up with us at about noon. A late lunch at Olive Garden is part of our day after Thanksgiving tradition. Yummm! We usually eat at around 2:30 p.m. This year we ate at about 2:00 p.m. so not much earlier.
This year I actually bought a couple of items. We all got some pretty good deals. I think we arrived back home at about 5:30 p.m. We had a really good day.
Some people arrived at my sister's house on Tuesday, everyone was there by Thursday. One family left on Thursday after the big meal. Most families left on Saturday (including us). The last family left on Sunday. We all had a totally terrific time. |

Today is Sarah's 9th birthday. She is so excited. She has been counting down to her birthday for 2 1/2 months. Dan is working today and Sarah can hardly stand it until he gets home so we can celebrate her birthday. At our house it is tradition for the birthday person to pick a place to eat. Sarah has chosen Fazoli's that is unless she changes her mind between now and then. Sarah is such a sweet girl, she is very helpful, she loves people, she wants to help everyone, she is very outgoing. She'll make a great mom someday, or president of the United States. Those who know her know what I mean. |

I wanted everyone to know that Mackenna is now home. She left the hospital on Tuesday evening. She and her parents are very happy to be out of the hospital. I believe she is on 8 meds and still on a feeding tube (last I knew) and has a long way to go. But, she is home and that is a big step. Please keep praying for Mackenna and her family. If you missed the details about Mackenna scroll down a few blogs and you can read all about her. Mackenna was born on October 4th. This is her first time to be at home. |

Yeah! Our local board of health voted in a No Smoking policy for all public places. Not for the whole state, just our one little county. But, hey! We are happy for that. One town at a time is becoming a non-smoking community. At first the non smoking towns were the bigger cities. Now a lot of the smaller towns are joining in. We're hoping that one day the whole state will be non-smoking in public places. In the meantime we are very happy with the progress that is being made. January 1st is the start day for the non-smoking policy. |

I love talking about the weather. I have to see the weather forecast on TV. I don't feel like I have seen the news if I haven't seen the weather report.
Our weather has been absolutely fantastic. The outdoor temperatures have been in the 70's or higher
for awhile now. However - that is all about to end. Starting tomorrow the temps drop down to the 60's. Day after that the temps go on down to the 50's. The weather people say it's going to be awhile before we get out of the 50's. I just hope the temps go back up and not down again. This time of year the temperatures go up and down quite a bit.
We are also supposed to get some rain on Friday and Saturday. With Friday only having a 40% chance and Saturday only a 30% chance. And to make it worse the rain chances are scattered. Meaning some may get rain and most wont get rain. Not good being that we are in a drought. |
