And life is now worth living, if only because of you, and when they say I'm dead and gone, it won't be further from the truth...

Happy New Year, everyone!!
I went to the singing that the Harbers had at their house. Jesse was with me, and my niece was too, so I had my favorite people with me. The singing was fantastic...everyone sounded great! Lilli was sitting on my lap and enjoying the music. It was cute.:) Everyone crowded into the TV room to watch the ball drop, and I got kissed at midnight. *giggle* I've never even had a boyfriend on New Years or Christmas, and this year I've got a fiance! How fun.:D
I got to spend the few days after Christmas with Jesse's family. They are fantastic, I can't wait to be related to all of them! I get along really well with everyone. They definitely treat me like family, I got so many awesome gifts from them. Lots of thank-you cards to write! We went bowling and poor Alex got cheated, and the bowling people were rude. Oh well.
This year has so many amazing things in store. Jesse and I are getting married and moving to France, Lord willing. There are still so many details to be worked about the wedding and the study abroad paperwork. 2008 was the best year of my life... but I think 2009 will give it a run for its money.
Have a great day, everyone. I will. :) |

Life.
It's pretty fantastic.
Finals are this week and I'm not really that excited for that. I am, however, excited for them to be over. It's going to be hectic but break is just around the corner, thankfully. Being away from Jesse for six weeks is also not the most thrilling thing, but we will probably still manage to spend a lot of time together.
I've yet to get anyone Christmas presents, aside from my sweet little niece. And she's the one who's too little to care, haha. I'm not very creative when it comes to choosing gifts. Since I'm marrying into a massive family, I'm going to have to get over that in a hurry. Maybe I should learn to knit or something and just make everyone scarves or toboggans or something.
Aside from school, the biggest stuff in my life is the wedding planning. (The biggest thing in Jesse's life is study abroad planning, and I'm more than willing to let him handle that.) We think we've finally got the place we're going to have it. Sometime this week, we're going by to get the contract and look at the building. We also think we've got our preacher, my dress has been fitted and is undergoing alterations, and I've found a bridesmaid dress that works for all my girls. I feel like I've accomplished so much and yet there's so much more to do! But it's all really fun. I can't wait to marry Jesse and start our lives together. We picked a date... June 13th. :)
Hope you guys are all having good Decembers so far. Leave lots of comments! |

I'm engaged. :)
Jesse proposed tonight a few minutes before midnight. He took me to the place we had our first kiss.
I'm so overwhelmingly happy, I can't even begin to describe what this is like. I love him so much.
I'll post pictures of the ring and more details sometime really soon.
There is no one happier on earth than me right now, lol. Except maybe Jesse.
UPDATE: here's the picture!

I hadn't realized how long it's been since I updated. Wow.
Life is still good. I took a massive Astronomy test today. I can't tell if I did really well on it or if I totally bombed...we shall see.
Jesse and I passed the "dating for six months" mark and are slowly coming up on the 7th. He's picking me up from my dorm soon for some scary movie action and pizza. Yay! It's great spending so much time with him. It's very cool that we still haven't had an argument yet. I get mad at him sometimes and he gets frustrated with me, but he's the most mellow guy ever. He doesn't let it turn into a fight, and I appreciate that. We're supposed to be going to a bonfire/hayride tomorrow, at the place we met each other. Hopefully this icky rain junk will go away, since bonfires and rain aren't the best combination.
It's starting to get really cold here in BG. Well, really cold to me. I know later in the year it's going to be down to 30 degrees with freezing wind, and I'll get to walk to class in it. Not looking forward to that. But it could be so much worse.
Bob Buchanon did a gospel meeting at Broadmoor this week. I was there on Sunday and his Bible class lesson took my breath away. He told us about the Christians in Zimbabwe. Just a few random facts:
-There are people in Zimbabwe who haven't bathed in 3 years. There has been a 4 year drought and water is too precious of a commodity to waste on bathing.
-The unemployment rate is somewhere around 85%.
-The "president" (dictator) Mugabe, is listed by Forbes as the 6th wealthiest man in the world, while thousands of his citizens die from starvation.
-America sent something like 17 tractor trailors to Zimbabwe, filled to the rafters with corn. Mugabe turned on the electricity for just long enough to tell the citizens that the corn from the US was genetically altered and that it would give the people AIDS if they ate it. His soldiers took the corn when (surprise!) no one would eat it.
-Mugabe hasn't even paid his military in 6 months.
-Some mothers have admitted to Mr. Buchanon that they have mixed sand into their children's food, just to fill up their bellies so they won't cry so much.
-Zimbabwe has the highest inflation in the world. They refuse to use anything but American dollars, because with Zimbabwe's money, it can sometimes cost twelve million (thats 12,000,000) dollars for a single loaf of bread. The people that have jobs are only allowed to withdraw about a dollar a day from their government mandated bank accounts, and are charged a fee for doing so. They can't even afford food.
There are SO many more things that I could list... but it just really made me realize how BLESSED I am. I complain because I have to get up early in the morning to get a shower before classes, but thank God there isn't a water crisis here that prevents me from doing so. I have a warm bed, a structurally sound dorm to live in, and far more than enough food. I am very blessed. My life is incredible and I'm nowhere near thankful enough.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm interested to see how many people actually read this. So if you even read a tiny bit, comment and let me know. Love you guys. :) |

Five bajillion bonus points to whoever can tell me what movie my title is from. (No cheating and using Google or Yahoo or Dogpile or anything, either.)
SO! Life. It rocks. But then again, it usually does. College is kinda bleh... I wish I could just live on campus and earn credits without having to actually go to classes. But that would be against the point, I guess. So, I get up every morning and drag myself up the hill to English or Pol Sci or Astronomy or Religions of Asia... and so far I'm making decent grades. So far.
I went home this past weekend, for the first time since I got up here. (I went home once for a doctor's appointment, but that doesn't count.) I got to see my little Lilli, who is not so little anymore, compared to a few weeks ago. Here's an updated picture... still the cutest baby ever.
Yeah, I adore her. A lot. On the subject of adoration...
I LOVE being up here with Jesse. To all my girl friends...I hope you all find someone like him because he is every girl's Mr. Darcy or Edward Cullen or Will Turner, or whoever your dream guy is. Sometimes I think I got the last good one that was left, lol. It's so crazy to think that some guy I met at a random Bible study has become my best friend and the love of my life. Even my mom loves him, haha. And she's kinda picky. He seems pretty fond of me too, so I think I'll keep him. Tomorrow will make it five months we've been dating, but it feels like so much more than that. I guess it's because we've crammed so much into those five months. Road trips, family reunions (both of ours), etc. We've put a lot of miles on my VW, lol. So worth it though. He's a great guy and I hope some of you guys get to meet him eventually. (Especially you, G.) So here's another pic...last one for this post, I promise.
Have a great week, peoples! Love y'all, leave me some comments. |
