Sunday marks our one year wedding anniversary! It is hard to believe its been a year, but at the same time it feels like we've known each other much longer. We have learned a lot in the past year, I hope that it just keeps getting better.
This time last year I was packing up the last bit of my stuff in Birmingham and moving it all to Georgia. Moving away from my family was a hard experience, mostly because I wouldn't be seenig them everyday. Now, I still miss my family, but the ache that was in me when I left, is now mostly just a memory. Dion is responsible for that (with God's help). Dion is the most wonderful husband I could ever ask for. I couldn't imagine a man with more love for God or me in his heart. I prayed that God would send me a godly Christian man for so many years. Let me tell you...it was SO worth the wait!!!!
Actually, I'm staying with Jim and Alyssa. But Jim works most of the day and Alyssa goes to school, so I was just hoping to visit with someone while they were away.
Its raining cats and dogs right now. I could not be more excited. This morning I heard on the radio that Lake Lanier is up several inches from the rain....so exciting! Thank you LORD for the rain!
In a couple of weeks Dion and I are schedule to take a week long vacation to go to the beach. We may or may not get to go to the beach, but we are going to have some sort of vacation one way or another. :) We might spend a few nights in a cabin at Gatlinburg. That should be fun, but its definately no comparision to the beach. :( Whether we get to go to the beach or not, depends on Jesse's dad's condition. He's taking chemo now, but is having some serious side effects from it. Please remember to pray for John Griffis and that the LORD will heal him from this cancer. Also, please pray for his spiritual condiiton. John is not a Christian.
Stacy is living with Dion and I. I think she's enjoying it for what its worth. I'm pretty sure she thinks Dion is a nut too. That's pretty much true. :) She's decided to be a member at Roswell CofC, which she seems to really be enjoying. She's happy to have a "church family" again. :)
Today make 10 months that Dion and I have been married. This has flown by! Wow! Dion is a great husband! I've been told by several of my other married friends that the first year is good, but the years to follow are great! I'm sure they will be!
I'm working full-time and Dion and I are diligently working to pay-off my student loan. I'm very excited! We are projected to have it paid off by June or July next year! Whoohoo! :) Then we have big plans for doing some updating to our house. Very exciting!
Last week we had a ladies night for the women at Mt. View. Anna, Jessica and I hosted a fondue party at our house. We had no idea how much work we were in for! We had a fantastic time! It only took us about an hour to get everything cleaned up once our party was over. I believe we figured out the maximum capacity for our house too. Its 20 ladies. :) We really can't hold more than that! I have pictures...I should post them.
I am normally thankful for the rain but today I'm ready for it to end. I've discovered we have a leaky roof! Wonder how much that is going to cost to replace?
L-O-V-E fondue! I think it may be my favorite type of food. Wish I could have been there.
We most likely won't be at home, though, so maybe we can plan for a Prison Break date the next Monday? Tell Dion that his favorite character is coming back from the dead. Only she wasn't ever dead.
It thrills my soul that you are having a great first year. It means more to me than know. You have chosen well my silly lime. (He didn't do so bad either)
hey! glad things are going well for y'all. we just moved to elizabethtown, ky this week (tuesday) to start working with the college view church. it was hard to leave jasper, as the folks there were SO, SO good to us. but after 6 years, i was ready for a change. the church here has 3 elders, several young couples our age and lots of young people. keep in touch!
No problem! Although Joshua said last night, "So, I guess Dion and Emily aren't ever going to come over and watch Prison Break with us again, huh?" ha ha
I've dropped Prison Break. It's just not very good anymore.
Heroes was interesting. I have a hard time wrapping my brain around time travel concepts. I get lost when I'm reading Joshua's comic books and the plots involve other dimensions. I still think Heroes might be one of the best shows on TV, though.
I wanted to get into Fringe, but we're so busy and since we're still stuck in the 1800s and don't have Tivo, I made myself miss the first episode so I wouldn't get caught up in it and have to add another show to my 'must see' list.
We've had guests every weekend this month and will finish out the last weekend of May with my family coming into town. I'm very excited to see them and because we're going to the aquarium on Saturday!
This past weekend Dion's parents came to visit. We had a good weekend with them. Dion's mom and I did some shopping on Saturday (Dion and his dad came along and endured it very well), then we all ate dinner at Olvie Garden. I can't tell you how much I like Olive Garden!!!!!! I could eat about three bowls of that wonderful salad and sop up the dressing left over with the bread sticks! Yummo! We watched I Am Ledged with Dion's parents Saturday night. I wasn't sure if they'd like it or not, but apprently they did enjoy it!
The weekend before E.J. came to visit. She's so quiet you'd hardly know she was there. She's a really nice house guest.
The first weekend of May, my parents along with Stacy, Charlie, Adam, baby Drake and Jesse came to visit. We had a packed house, but I have to say I loved it! Its so lonely feeling once they all leave.
This weekend we have a gospel meeting with Adam Kendall-Ball. I have no idea what the "theme" for the lessons will be, but I'm interested to here Adam preach. From what I'm told his accent gets really noticable when he reads scripture. :D Come on out guys! We'd love to have y'all.
Sounds like you're having a great time. I love having company! Olive Garden sounds good. I don't care much for the food, but I love their salad and breadsticks!
We are going to Birmingham this weekend-wish you were going to be there too so I could see you. Wait a minute, we live i nthe same state! Silly me. I hope we can get together soon. I'm sure you'll have a good gospel speaker, as long as you have your ears tuned to "South African" ;-)
We just ate at Olive Garden on Sunday and loved it. They have gotten more expensive recently though. I don't think there was a single dish under $10.
Glad you're enjoying the visits. That's the good thing about living where you live...you're not very far away at all from everybody. I can't wait until we move back that direction.
That's why you have to go with the soup/salad/breadsticks deal. It's about the only thing under $10, and it's really cheap at lunch (like $6, I think). Zuppa Toscana is the only way to go. And since it is so cheap, you can afford the Bellini Peach-Raspberry Iced Tea. If you're in the mood for a starter, the Smoked Mozzarella Fonduta is quite nice.
Hey Emily!! :) Since we hardly catch each other to chat at church, I just wanted to say hello! :) We need to get together! It's been waaaay too long! Hope you all have a great weekend with the Clarks! Happy 4th of July! :)
1. I can't believe that I am just now adding you as a friend. I thought I had done that. I was wanting to say 'had a great time last night playing wii' which set of this entire thought process about why I haven't blurrbed you and why I haven't read a post. duh
2. I have never thought of D as someone hairless or even close to balding. I see you chose spikey hair for him up there and last night he made the comment to one of the little girls, 'it must be nice to have bangs' which totally cracked me up. ha!
3. I want to paint something.
4. I had a great time last night playing wii!
