Pink Kitchen 12-17-08 10:28am CST
Hello all! I hope everyone is as excited as I am about Christmas. Soon most of us will be with our families and friends and enjoying this great time of year with all the food (yum) and beutiful things.

Well, you're probably wondering about the title above. I'm painting the walls around my cabinets red in my kitchen, but so far all I've done is prime it. Since red paint can be very aggravating, the guy at Home Depot suggested using a tinted primer. Right now I have a gray and Pepto Bismol pink kitchen. Doesn't really make you want to eat.... then again, maybe I should keep the pink. Well, hopefully by tomorrow I'll have a gray and red kitchen. I hope to post pics on facebook soon, so check those out.

Working on my Christmas cards, and getting ready for a Christmas Party/Ornament Exchange for the ladies at church on Friday that's at our house. I only have a couple of presents left to buy, and they shouldn't be any trouble to find.

What are looking foward to most this Christmas?

Becca :)
whipsmilekeep it pink! hahaha.

I can't wait for my family/friends to open my gifts to them. That's my favorite part.
neeneeI think an ornament exchange would be fun. :) Enjoy your holidays!!
lindseymarieSo how exactly is red paint aggravating and how does the primer change this? It was so fun getting to see you and Kev for Christmas! My favorite part is always getting to see everybody. I particularly like seeing family at a lake vacation home. ;) And I have to admit, I like give giving/receiving too.
frogkisserGray and red sounds wonderful! WIsh I could see your house. I'm sure you're putting your designing skills to good use!
motormouthmichalfood and family...possibly in that order! haha!
tamerten98I will be working in dispatch again. It's not really a new job just an old job revisited.
beka34we got your xmas card today - thanks for thinking of us. merry christmas
mayflowerI'm curious to see if people lose their tempers more often in your kitchen once it's red!
mayflowerLet me know the statistics!

Christmas Season 12-04-08 09:32am CST
Okay, so I really don't have anything new to say... but anyway. We are pretty much still doing the same old stuff: painting the house and doing a few upgrades here a there. I feel like I've been painting forever, but the trim takes so long!

I've got my Christmas decorations up and ready for a couple of get togethers I'm having for the ladies at church. I love decorating for Christmas!!! I'm such a girl who loves glitter and shiny objects, so Christmas is perfect! I made my own tree topper this year, and I kinda like it. It's a flower arrangement of sorts with glittery poinsettias and some glittered birch twigs and swirly twigs. I think it looks like a funky centerpiece has been stuck up on the tree.

I don't have too much Christmas shopping to do this year, which is cool, but I need to get it done while the stores still have the things I need to get.

Here's a question: who is the hardest person you have to shop for at Christmas?

Enjoy all the beautiful lights and decorations that are out this time of year, and listen to some Christmas songs!

Have a good one. ~Becca
julesMy granddad. By far.
Happy holidays!
frogkisserI love Christmas decorating, too! I made my own snow village this year. Fun. And it's a toss-up between the father-in-law and brother-in-law. Miss you!
razzMy dad- can't buy him clothes (he's too hard to fit) and he has every tool under the sun and he's not big into movies... so much fun!
neeneeI need a topper! There's nothing there right now, but I was thinking about a big bow. It's only a 3 foot tree anyway. :)

Flowers in Fall 10-28-08 08:31am CST
Well, I haven't posted in a while, so here you go! Kevin and I had so much fun in Florida! Once we got back home though, the fall weather seemed very cold. I was ready to see the changing leaves though, which was nice!

Last weekend I was very honored to do the flowers for Stephen and Abby's wedding. I'm so excited for them! This weekend I have another wedding to make arrangements for, but it is much smaller. A widow and a widower at church are getting married. It's very cute and sweet. It'll be a small wedding though so the flowers should be pretty easy.

Other than that, we've just been up to the usual, painting and deciding what we want to do with the house. I'm starting to look forward to the Christmas season: decorating, shopping, and coming up with a Christmas card. It will be here soon!

What's new with you? Hope you have a beautiful week :)

Becca
tu_madreour cats are finally getting out and exploring the areas surrounding our trailer. they still treat the backporch as home base though.
beckdobbinssounds like so much fun :)
girl_hustedYou did such a great job!! It was good to see you two!
neeneeI think it is a beautiful thing when two people who are lonely because of the loss of their spouse find each other to comfort.
girl_hustedThank you!!
emilylankfordIt was great to see you & kevin last week. Thanks for making the drive!! Guess what was in our mail when we got home....the birth annoucement I had sent to you:) I'll send it to the correct address this time!!
beckdobbinsYou are right - it is so important to stay focused esp. when things start to get stormy.
frogkisserHmmm, I don't know. I was thinking about Christmas cards the other day. I want to make them myself this year, so I guess I ought to get started soon!

Painting, painting, painting 09-30-08 09:54am CST
Well, I figured I should update, but there's not much new going on. We've been working on the house some more and trying to get finished painting. We bought a big house, which I absolutely love, but it's taking a while to paint everything. Last weekend we finished the guest room which I'm very pleased with. So, if anyone wants to visit us - we've got a room for you! This week I'm painting some more trim in the kitchen area and some doors.

Kevin has another conference next week. This time it is in Orlando! I'm very excited about it, because we are planning on going to Disney World and some other fun places. Combining his work and our vacations is very convenient and saves us a lot of money! We also hope to head out to Tampa one day and try to catch up with some old friends.

This weekend my family is having dinner at my parents' house for my birthday! Mom is making my favorite food, yeah! Well, that's about all that's going on here. What's up with you?

Have a beautiful week!

Becca :)
beckdobbinsDo you have any advice on where to buy a house? We are considering both Hopkinsville and Clarksville. It will depend on where we decide to worship. Any advice would be appreciated. We are completely unfamiliar with the area. I want to be in a safe/nice area of town and that can be hard to know from a first impression.
beckdobbinsHave fun at Disney! I have never been but I hear it is amazing!
neeneeHow old are your kittens? The doctor I work for has a cat that's pregnant, but it will be a few weeks before I can get them...
neeneeI wish I was close enough to help you paint. I've always enjoyed it. :)
tamerten98Have fun on your trip!
lindseymarieSounds like so much fun (and a needed break from painting)! Looking forward to seeing you this week!
lindseymarieBtw, do you know if Kevin has a some baseball card pages he doesn't use anymore or does he use most all of them? If he has extras, I was going to see if I could use a few, but if he doesn't, I'll just go out and get some packs at Wal-Mart.
beckdobbinsThanks!
frogkisserI really miss you! Sounds like you are busy and happy.
neeneeI can't WAIT for the kittens. I love cats. However, I did resolve that I would never have another one after I married Mr. Allergic to cats. He was very open to the idea of an outside cat, so now I'm all excited. See you tomorrow at 3:00!
neeneeThe kittens are currently sleeping on my kitchen chair. They tuckered themselves out by playing/exploring.
whipsmileIs today your birthday?
smeagolHappy Birthday Rebecca
casey_watson_hehnerI am so jealous!!! I crave Florida soooo bad in the fall. I miss it! Have fun!!

Home Again 08-31-08 04:34pm CST
Well, I'm back home from DC. We had a lot of fun and were able to see a lot of stuff, even though he had to work some. I was able to go on the tour of the Pentagon with all the military people at Kevin's conference. That was cool. We were exhausted everyday though from walking so much, but it was worth it.

A side note: if anyone decides to take small children to a war memorial or to tour the Federal buildings, please inform them that it is not a playground! Okay, that's all I'll say about that.

Our trip home was a little hectic. We were going to get a few hours down the road on Saturday night and then finish the drive between worship today. Well, Kevin's guard unit was activated to go to Louisiana to be security after hurricane Gustav finishes whatever destruction he's going to do. So he drove all night and we got home about 3 this morning. We slept a few hours and then I helped him get his stuff together before he left for Glasgow to meet up with his unit. I just wanted to let our friends know so you all could keep him in your prayers. He'll be gone somewhere between 2 weeks and a month.

Anyway, if I figure out how to post pictures sometime soon, I'll provide some sights of our trip. Have a wonderful week!

Becca :)
neeneeCan't wait to see the pix! Dan told me last night about Kevin. I pray he'll be safe down there.
beckdobbinsWe'll definitely pray for both of you!
lindseymarieYou know we will be!
julesPraying for him!
whipsmileYou have got to be proud of him.
Praying for him, his unit and all those in Louisiana.
emilylankfordOh, I hope that we do get to see you next month...we are ALL planning to make the trip!
