i have a friend named Laura; she has been my friend since we were 3yrs old (20yrs, nearly 21). I really do not know how we managed to stay friends all this time, but we have been consistantly friends since the day we met (at girl scout day camp b/c our moms were helpin out)...also, I cannot recall ever having any kind of fight w/her, not ever. (i can recall havin them w/other of my friends in our younger days of little girl ways)
i found some old pictures of her when i was cleanin out my closet, which made me recall fond memories; i hung out w/La and her entire family yesterday. she has an older sister and brother and a younger sister; i couldn't tell you the last time i ate w/all of them together. the older 2 are enough older that they didn't play w/us and were usually busy doin something else when i was there. (they're both married now)
la's daddy is the one who gave me antibiotics when i got the dog bite (he's a vet); la grew up showin sheep, a few times i was there when it was time to train, so they'd give me a sheep to hold onto
when we were kids we'd play "store" in her basement for hours and hours; later they got a pool, and i've been able to enjoy that for many years :) at my house we'd play "spy"; at both places we ran around outside a lot and rode bikes and looked for kittens; we were also in girl scouts and 4-H together; i imagine there's other things we played and did when we were little, but i can't recall it all
in highschool we played different sports, which gave us to some extint a different group of friends; however, we still had 4-H in common and the same core group of girlfriends; i suppose we recognized a good friend when we had one :)
have good days and nights, enjoy your family and your friend's family, stay warm, go visit someone, and do your best not to get caught in a fox trap
so i've moved all of my stuff home except for a few things that have to be transported in a truck bed; my mission for the next several days is to clean out my closet to make room for other stuff and it just needed to be done; here's a little list of a few things i've come across:
-numerous journals; apparently i've always been a writer of feelings and events
-a few old homemade t-shirts from art class (mine and william's)
-lots of old pictures
-willy's yearbook from 5th or 6th grade
-old sweaters that are super outta style
-2 silk shirts (one of them willy's)
-old t-ball t-shirts (mine and willy's)
-notes from the 6th grade when my friends and i created a secret society called "blue sparkles" we all had nicknames, so i truly don't recall everyone in it; mine was Digit...
-a kamp autograph book from 2002
-a picture drawn by a guy named david from 4th grade; he moved away after that and i haven't seen him since; i think i'll look him up on facebook (the drawing is very good)
-more unused hangers than i wanna think about
-mysterious box of golden utensils
-roller blades and skates
-luggage w/broken zippers (those were disposed of)
-quite a bit of other things that could definately be trashed and a few things worth givin to a second hand store
that's all i can think of right now; i've still got several days of work left though...my closet is big and has years and years worth of stuff in it
have good days and nights; bundle up, eat some popcorn, help someone, get your shoppin done b4 last minute, smile, and wear some x-mas socks :)
i cleaned out my closet so i could sell things in a garage sale we had... i had this huge folder filled with every letter i had received from my friends in junior high
when I moved 2 years ago I spent hours looking at all my stuff that I had kept. I loved it. It really brings back memories. It's like pulling out all your old year books and reading the notes that everyone wrote. Fun stuff
It's incredible what we can find in closets! I'm still finding things in from boxes I haven't unpacked in the 1+ year since I've been home going "I brought THAT from BG?"
How long are you moving home for?
does striped socks count?? :o) that's neat!! i had a couple in my bible for a while, and i was afraid they would fall out, but now i don't know what i did with them... i should have just left them in there!! i think one was from fall banquet and one was in a coffee shop!
this past friday i went to a white elephant x-mas party; i left w/2 old timey lookin candlestick holders :) the present that i brought consisted of: 3 t-shirts, a bag of unopened confetti, a never been licked giant lolly-pop, never been used address book, lipstick holder, and giant deck of cards, blue camo bandanna, safety goggles, travel uno, and an autographed framed photo of myself water skiin (i had an extra sittin around :); it got stolen 3 times
saturday i ran in the frosty 5k in mt. juliet, TN; it was quite literally freezin! i don't know the exact temperature, but it was definitely in the 20s and the wind was blowin; it was a little rough, but josh and i both took the prize in our age groups :)
thursday my roommates and i are havin a combination x-mas and goin away party (b/c 3 of the 4 of us are leavin); if you're in the area come to out apt at 7 or whenever ya can; we'll be up :)
i watched titantic for the first time ever this past sunday; i actually kinda liked it; i expected not to
have good days and nights, spend time w/your friends, eat a brownie, make lunch for someone, send snail mail, and try not to step in a deep puddle (it would only mean misery depending upon which shoes you had on)
Go here www.maestrosintraining.com and click on Kindermusik. It'll tell you all about it :) It's a music class for kids where they learn social, language, cognitive, etc. skills while playing with musical ideas.
