This Semester In A Nutshell:
It is possible to store the mind with a million facts and still be entirely uneducated. --Alec Bourne
Enjoy your winter break! Between my 2 cats, I haven't slept as late this morning as I could ... Smokey gets in my bed around 4:30 and stares at me. I never really get "back to sleep." Then later Annabelle's pawing a rug. I just finally get up! Thankfully, this doeesn't occur everyday. :)
This sounds bad, I know -- but I've been sad we haven't had more calls while I've been home -- so far we have only had one --- never thought I'd say this, but it was nice to be cleaning up, wrapping, and laying hoses again!
Smith died in 1836, leaving all his property to his only surviving daughter, Gertrude. She went insane.*

If your brain is as tired from overwork as mine is, this decontextualized historical factoid should be just as hilarious to you as it was to me thirty seconds ago.

HA! I did laugh... what's the context??? no, don't tell me because then it won't be as funny. i'll have to show you some of the tombstone epitaphs my mom just sent me -- they sound a lot like these.
don't know about Smith, or his insane daughter, but because you thought the Cyrus post was cool, I'll let you in on a little thing we did for Sophie's birthday.
that's horrible! We're going to KY right after Christmas. I'll be back just in time to have my wisdom teeth cut out...on New Year's Eve...I'm sure I'll be great company! lol. But I would love for you to come over and watch movies and eat chicken noodle soup! :)
In other words, I dyed my hair! :D
Don't worry, it's not drastic... like pink or something. ;)
I used red-brown dye, so now, instead of being chestnut brown, my highlights are dark red. If you see me in poor artificial light, though, you can't even tell.
Here's a picture!

i LIKE it!!! I've always wanted to do that... i've just never been brave enough to do. Maybe you'll inpsire me -- because I want to do somethign brownish with reddish tints. Not too obvious, but still a little. I mean, c'mon, it can be one of my "wild" things to do as a Christian.
I have given this much thought and consideration -- 24 hours, to be precise -- and have come to the following conclusion: sometime in the next four months, I am going to come visit you over a weekend and you are going to help my non-obviously and discretely dye my hair. Or highlight it. Or something thus equally outlandish that only we two will know about. Thus years from now, when we are dignified old ladies, our grandkids will marvel in amazement that we did such a wicked thing.
