Okay, I love "A Christmas Story", you know, the movie about the boy wanting the Red Ryder BB Gun. What is your favorite part or line in the movie? If you have never seen it, TBS is running a marathon of it tomorrow through Thursday. Let me know!
I just got your card. Thank you thank you! You just don't know how good your timing is. I had another round of injections yesterday, & today hasn't been very good. Thank you SO much.
I love the part when the dad comes home from work and the Bumpus dog's ear gets stuck in the door, and of course, when the dogs eat the turkey. Reminds me of my house at dinner time . . .
My favorite part is them going to the Chinese restaurant. When I was in high school, we just moved into a new house right before Christmas. Mom was trying to find everything in order to make Christmas dinner, but it was in boxes. Somehow the sink disposer got all clogged as well and the sink backed up as well. We just said "forget it" and went looking for someplace that was open. The only place we found was an Indian restaurant. We were the only peope in there, and we had 3 or 4 waiters hovering over us the whole time. The funniest thing was that I think they had no idea why the place was empty that day. They all looked so puzzled. We didn't get any Fa-ra-ra-ra's though.
It's a toss up between the tree blowing a fuse, the "I triple-dog dare you!" and the pink bunny costume from the [deranged] aunt. Love this movie!!!! I am going to have to find a copy of it somewhere so I can laugh anytime of year...
I know of parts of the movie, but I don't think I've ever seen all of it. I just remember the kid who stuck his tounge to the frozen pole and thought about how I'd never do that! I've been feeling good overall, but definitely need to catch up on some sleep from all this trveling. I've enjoyed having everyone around, too. I just wish Chris could get a little more time off work so we could enjoy him, too.
Maybe I would if I could remember how. Deb would be so tickled by the story. I guess that saucer was drug around on the concrete too much at some point. It just wouldn't move. I even put Ana in it and pushed on a downhill driveway covered in ice with snow on top. It didn't go anywhere. Text time I'll test it with a child sitting before I plop on belly first. :) I pushed the kids on their sleds - which slid just fine, and Scott mentioned how much fun it was with Mom outside with them.
Thursday sounds good. I should be in a celebratory mood if things go as planned with drafting this week. Have a great day at work. Don't you love the gloominess?
I love the gloominess. It's a great day for Oxford tea and reminiscing about England:) I love it that we're on at the same time. It's almost like instant messaging:) CONGRATS on the taxes. You go, girl:)
The Death by Chocolate, as always, was a major hit. Jacob Combs asked for the recipe, but I wanted to check with you since it's yours. Paul and Pat did a great job, but next time Dan and I will have more chairs. The teachers had to stand:-|
Oh and it didn'tseem to bother her. She still went up and pet her and everything. I was afraid she would be terrified after that but she's a stubborn one!!
Thanks for the congratulations! Chrystal will be moving in with my grandparents in Hamilton, because that is where she will be doing her student teaching next semester, and I'm planning on moving into my friend's great-grandma's guest house out on some acreage they have in Stephevnille. :)
We are hoping to move on up to Liberty Hillbilly status :} I'm hoping to work part-time or PRN (as needed) once we move; hopefully at Seton Cedar Park or some such close facility. We are praying and planning. His Will Be Done.
I'm sorry that I was not able to update this sooner, but there were complications during the IES. My membrane was much worse than the doctor had thought; and instead of one hour of surgery, it took three hours. Also, during the surgery, my retina was accidentally torn so the doctor had to put a gas bubble in my eye to hold my retina in place so that it would not detach (permanent blindness issue there). My duty for the last 12 days has been to stare at my feet in order to keep the bubble pushing on the proper part of my retina. That has posed some interesting problems, especially trying to sleep, but... TODAY I AM ALLOWED TO LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD AGAIN!!!!! I had to have an extra surgery to burn some abnormal blood vessels off my retina today; but, it was short and TODAY I AM ALLOWED TO LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD AGAIN!!!!! Praise the Lord! My vision is still worse than before the surgery, but there is still hope for improvement. At the very least, all this surgery has saved my eye from permanent blindness and I am very thankful for that.
The Lord has blessed me beyond belief. I asked for courage, patience, and thankfulness no matter the outcome and He gave me all of that in overflowing amounts. My church family, as well as my physical family, have helped me with food and trips to the doctor and prayers and cards. I am exceedingly blessed! Thank you, all of you in Pleo land, for your prayers, too. They were heard and answered.
All of us are suffering from allergies, especially today, but Katie had a rash on top of all her allergies, so we took her to the doc today. Luckily it's nothing too bad. :)
I saw your comment to Tiff's page. You can purchase tickets through Frank Erwin Center. They have a link to that particular show. I think they perform twice that day: 3pm & 7:30pm. They have a 4 pack of tickets for the $25 range per ticket, but those seats are going to be way up in the mezzanine. :) Hope all that helped. :)
Y'all would LOVE it!! Like Dianna said, you can go to the Frank Erwin website & find the Transiberian Orchestra on there. Also, you can just google "Transiberian Orchestra tickets Austin TX" and it will bring up different sights that are selling them. There is one called greatseats.com (or something like that) and they have the REALLY good seats available, but they are a lot more expensive that way. If you buy them through the Frank Erwin website, they are the least expensive that way.
Actually, it's three dogs to two people. When our son and his wife went to adopt a lab puppy for each of them, there were only three left in the litter. They didn't have the heart to leave one behind. They have about two acres to roam behind an invisible fence, and they keep each other company. The puppies do have a lot of energy, but they're coming along in their training.
Hope you guys had a happy thanksgiving! I'm soooo glad my dad was there to help me, too! It stinks that my truck broke down, but I was so fortunate as far as the timing goes! :D
Next Thursday, October 16, I will be having surgery for an epiretinal membrane that is growing in my right eye. It is not a fun surgery and I will be under general anesthesia for the procedure. Some doctors do it under a local, but I would rather be knocked out. The surgery is called a "vitrectomy with membrane peel" and I won't go into any gory details, but I will leave you with a link to a website where you can read about it if you dare! Please pray for me that it goes well and I at least don't lose any more vision in that eye. The surgery is a little risky and they don't like to do it until it is a last resort, and I have finally reached that point.
Here is the link about epiretinal membranes if you want to know more details. You can link from there to "vitrectomy" to read about the surgery.
I will pray for you! I hope you heal up well. I would want to be knocked out too. :) I also wanted to say something about my comment on your modesty article. I did want to say that I think my dress could have used some improvements and that I don't think it was "perfectly" modest. I just thought I may have left that impression and thought I would clarify. Love ya! :)
Hope the surgery goes well and that you are able to preserve your eyesight. I'd want to be knocked out, too -- I can't STAND anyone messing with my eyes!
Yes, I do go to the dentist in SA. My father-in-law was my dentist until a couple of years ago when he retired. Phil and I tried a dentist here in town who wanted to fix about 32 teeth between us, and he acted like we had never been to the dentist. I just decided to go back to the dentist I went to before I was married. I feel like he is someone I can trust not to take advantage of me. Plus, I have babysitters (my parents) in SA who do not mind helping me with the kiddos. Praying for you, and thanking about you this week!
I don't know the technical terms for it, but they were putting up the smoke pipe/stack thingy for my grandparent's wood burning stove, and lifting them up in the tractor bucket was just way more effective than two of them trying to climb a ladder. :)
I've been getting all the email updates on your surgery...I'm so sorry things didn't go as smoothly as hoped, but I pray you will have a quick recovery!
1. I have very tiny feet. Size 5-5 1/2. I was actually asked once how I could balance on them.
2. I didn't become a Christian until I was 23 years old.
3. I love to do my income taxes. I would probably do yours for you, too, for free, if I weren't so afraid of getting them wrong and having the government after you!
4. My all-time favorite book is Little Women. I have read it so much that when I see a movie version, I can usually tell if the actress got her line right or paraphrased.
5. I was a Cub Scout den mother and I won the Occoneechee Council Spark Plug Award!
6. I took flute lessons for 8 years and did all the band things.
7. I love to learn the etymology of words. Words are cool!
8. I love to teach Bible class. It really makes my day when once of my students from long ago actually remembers something I taught them.
So, now, whoever I tag needs to post 8 random facts about themselves and tag 8 more people!
I noticed you while I was talking to Sarah, but by the time we finished, you had been caught by someone else! Don't worry, I'll probably be home pretty often this semester, so I'll catch you next time, Lord willing! :)
I didn't know you played the flute. I really wished I played the flute during marching season! What is the spark plug award? I've heard good things about your bible classes where the kids learn all about Vines, Strongs, etc. Keep up the good work!
I'll answer you here since I can't seem to post on your page. My name is Lynn Harbin. My husband is Steve and we have one son, Daniel, who was going into the 8th grade when we moved away from St. Louis in 1995. Who are you?
