Chris bought a tool for his motorcycle the other day at Sears and got a $50-off coupon for a 7' pre-lit Christmas tree. So last night, we got to go tree shopping. YAY! The one we used last year (and that he's apparently been using for the last few years before I showed up) actually belongs to his grandmother. We bought a really pretty tree! Of course, the decorations were not included. I bought all new decorations last year after Christmas when Macy's had them on clearance. (The BEST time to buy Christmas decorations is a few days after Christams!)
Here's the tree:
The bulbs are pretty unique. We really liked them, and they're the reason we paid extra for this tree, when the one in the pic above to the right is the other tree we were considering is $100 less. Fortunately, we found a string of the same kind of lights and bought those, too, so we'll have 100 replacement bulbs for future use!
Here are the cool light bulbs:
Hope you guys have a great Wednesday!
Happy no-pants hump day to you. :) |

How many of you crazy people went out shopping on Black Friday (or at any time this weekend)?
What were the best deals?
I decided that I'd been out on Black Friday enough in my life and needed a break. Of course, I've always been on the other side of the counter...
Big shout out to any of you who had to WORK on Black Friday. I hope to never have to do it again!! |

Wednesday, I took my dad to the VA Hospital to get a shot in his elbow, splints for his fingers and an X-ray. (It's not as bad as it sounds, he just has arthritis.) On the way out, we passed rows and rows of pictures of men and women in uniform who had received treatment at that facility. This picture that Dad pointed out was really cool because not only does he have the same last name (my maiden name), but he has a STRONG resemblance to my dad's dad and his family. Here's Uncle Wilbert: (I don't know if he's really an uncle, I'm just saying that!)

Halloween was fun. Didn't have plans until Thurs night when Chris' mom gave me a pumpkin to carve. Carved Homestar Runner into my pumpkin and will post a pic as soon as I find my phone...
My impression of Homestar Runner. The brim of his hat broke off, so just use your imagination!
Went to the coffee shop down the street to enjoy watching the little kids walk past in their costumes. This one family came in and saw some friends of theirs. Their little 5 year old boy walked up, all cute in his lion costume, and the friend said, "Show me your lion roar!" and the little boy climbed up on the chair, clenched his hands into little fists and gave her a roar for all he was worth!! I could NOT stop laughing!! The mom apologized profousely to all 6 of us who were in the coffee shop, but I'm pretty sure we were all laughing. :)
Saturday was spent at the in-laws while Chris helped put up new siding. I carved another pumpkin with my nieces (of which I will also post a pic...when I find my phone), and they managed to break it by the end of the day. Oh well. Had home-made lasagna for dinner that night, so all's good!
The only picture the girls could agree on looked like a mix between a clown, Mickey Mouse, and baby Shreck. Here is my interpretation of those things:
Sunday was spent going to church and being very productive in the afternoon. The laundry half of the laundry room is now spotless (YAY!!!) while the tool/storage half of the laundry room still leaves something to be desired (like, organization). The office has been rid of the baseball-sized dust bunnies, my summer clothes have been put away, the bathroom has been cleaned, and the clean laundry is STILL sitting in the baskets, waiting to be put away. Can you tell I'll do almost ANYTHING to avoid putting clean clothes away? Anyone else like that?
Clean laundry room:
Yesterday was her birthday. She is now 21. Oh. My. Goodness. I'm starting to feel old. Scratch that, I've been feeling old, now I know I am! kidding.
Today I voted. Go me.
Work has been off-the-charts busy. I'm up to my eyeballs in applications. Then there's new folders to make for those applications. Then there are transcripts/scores/letters to put in those files. Then they need to go to the Director for acceptance, then I have to write the acceptance letters. Then I have to put the acceptance package together. Then I have to mail them... ACK! Someone, please, STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!
Ok, I'm done. I just needed to get that out.
I'm really busy, so I gotta get back to work. Hope you enjoyed that update.
Peac out, home fries. |
