I'm so thankful for the wonderful year we've shared together. It's amazing to me how much you can grow in love for someone, and it makes me so excited to think about how much I'll love him after 50 years together, if God blesses us with that much time together on this earth. We've had a fun, busy, and sometimes stressful year...but overall, I've loved every minute of it! God is so good to us and I praise and thank Him for this wonderful man I can call my Husband.
Happy Anniversary! You guys are truly one of my favorite couples! :) and about Black Friday shopping...it's definitely worth it. I found a dvd set for 70% off the cover price. it was the only thing I bought! :)
:) I hope your next years together are just as wonderful!!
My dad told me that you were asking about me when you were at Collegevue the other day. Let me know when you are coming in again and maybe we can visit. Chris and I are both teaching bible class right now at Jackson Heights, but after the quarter is over, we should have some extra time to visit other places :)
Yes! That is crazy. Even more crazy since we were outside with Cassie and the puppy! I was waiting with Holly for the rest of the family to come out so I could meet everyone. We did have somewhere that we were going, though, and couldn't stick around too long.
Ah, happy anniversary!! You two seem to be soo happy! I really wish we could get together! You guys would be so much fun to hang with!! :) Our 4th anniversary is coming up on the 18th, and you are right, when God blesses us with that right one, the love just keeps multiplying!! Praise the Lord!
Happy Anniversary! Time is passing by so quickly, isn't it? Yes, I've worked at a bank before, when I still lived in Alabama. This bank sounds like they do things very differently than what I am used to, so it will take some adjusting. The gift I am working on is for my mom. I'm sure she'll love it, even if it isn't perfect to me.
happy anniversary! i thought about you and jason the other day as i was listening to "set me as a seal" :) of course, i've mentioned that to you several times, but it always brings back memories of the septuagint ;) hope you guys are doing well...i miss you!!!
Happy Anniversary, Jessica!! How are you and Jason going to celebrate? It's hard to believe it's already been 3 years. Time goes by so quickly! Congrats to you and Jason. :)
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God."
Romans 13:1
“Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; and let them say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns.’”
1 Chron. 16:31
Doesn’t this give you goose bumps?
Job 38
1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 “Who is this who darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?
3 Now prepare yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 “ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 “Or who shut in the sea with doors,
When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
9 When I made the clouds its garment,
And thick darkness its swaddling band;
10 When I fixed My limit for it,
And set bars and doors;
11 When I said,
‘This far you may come, but no farther,
And here your proud waves must stop!’
12 “Have you commanded the morning since your days began,
And caused the dawn to know its place,
13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth,
And the wicked be shaken out of it?
14 It takes on form like clay under a seal,
And stands out like a garment.
15 From the wicked their light is withheld,
And the upraised arm is broken.
16 “Have you entered the springs of the sea?
Or have you walked in search of the depths?
17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you?
Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
18 Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth?
Tell Me, if you know all this.
19 “ Where is the way to the dwelling of light?
And darkness, where is its place,
20 That you may take it to its territory,
That you may know the paths to its home?
21 Do you know it, because you were born then,
Or because the number of your days is great?
22 “Have you entered the treasury of snow,
Or have you seen the treasury of hail,
23 Which I have reserved for the time of trouble,
For the day of battle and war?
24 By what way is light diffused,
Or the east wind scattered over the earth?
25 “Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water,
Or a path for the thunderbolt,
26 To cause it to rain on a land where there is no one,
A wilderness in which there is no man;
27 To satisfy the desolate waste,
And cause to spring forth the growth of tender grass?
28 Has the rain a father?
Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
29 From whose womb comes the ice?
And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth?
30 The waters harden like stone,
And the surface of the deep is frozen.
31 “Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades,
Or loose the belt of Orion?
32 Can you bring out Mazzaroth[a] in its season?
Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?
33 Do you know the ordinances of the heavens?
Can you set their dominion over the earth?
34 “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds,
That an abundance of water may cover you?
35 Can you send out lightnings, that they may go,
And say to you, ‘Here we are!’?
36 Who has put wisdom in the mind?[b]
Or who has given understanding to the heart?
37 Who can number the clouds by wisdom?
Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven,
38 When the dust hardens in clumps,
And the clods cling together?
39 “Can you hunt the prey for the lion,
Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,
40 When they crouch in their dens,
Or lurk in their lairs to lie in wait?
41 Who provides food for the raven,
When its young ones cry to God,
And wander about for lack of food?
Job 39
1 “Do you know the time when the wild mountain goats bear young?
Or can you mark when the deer gives birth?
2 Can you number the months that they fulfill?
Or do you know the time when they bear young?
3 They bow down,
They bring forth their young,
They deliver their offspring.[a]
4 Their young ones are healthy,
They grow strong with grain;
They depart and do not return to them.
5 “Who set the wild donkey free?
Who loosed the bonds of the onager,
6 Whose home I have made the wilderness,
And the barren land his dwelling?
7 He scorns the tumult of the city;
He does not heed the shouts of the driver.
8 The range of the mountains is his pasture,
And he searches after every green thing.
9 “Will the wild ox be willing to serve you?
Will he bed by your manger?
10 Can you bind the wild ox in the furrow with ropes?
Or will he plow the valleys behind you?
11 Will you trust him because his strength is great?
Or will you leave your labor to him?
12 Will you trust him to bring home your grain,
And gather it to your threshing floor?
13 “The wings of the ostrich wave proudly,
But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s?
14 For she leaves her eggs on the ground,
And warms them in the dust;
15 She forgets that a foot may crush them,
Or that a wild beast may break them.
16 She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers;
Her labor is in vain, without concern,
17 Because God deprived her of wisdom,
And did not endow her with understanding.
18 When she lifts herself on high,
She scorns the horse and its rider.
19 “Have you given the horse strength?
Have you clothed his neck with thunder?[b]
20 Can you frighten him like a locust?
His majestic snorting strikes terror.
21 He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength;
He gallops into the clash of arms.
22 He mocks at fear, and is not frightened;
Nor does he turn back from the sword.
23 The quiver rattles against him,
The glittering spear and javelin.
24 He devours the distance with fierceness and rage;
Nor does he come to a halt because the trumpet has sounded.
25 At the blast of the trumpet he says, ‘Aha!’
He smells the battle from afar,
The thunder of captains and shouting.
26 “Does the hawk fly by your wisdom,
And spread its wings toward the south?
27 Does the eagle mount up at your command,
And make its nest on high?
28 On the rock it dwells and resides,
On the crag of the rock and the stronghold.
29 From there it spies out the prey;
Its eyes observe from afar.
30 Its young ones suck up blood;
And where the slain are, there it is.”
Job 40
1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said:
2 “Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him?
He who rebukes God, let him answer it.”
Who can stand against our all-powerful God? I'm glad He's on my side! :)
We did see Fireproof. We saw it weekend before last (it's extremely rare that we go to the movies two weekends in a row). We had numerous people tell us we needed to see Fireproof and they were all correct. We were very pleased with it. It was so refreshing to go see a movie made for adults that talked about God and didn't have any filth in it. The acting could have been better at parts, but on the whole it was very good and we were glad we went. We've recommended it to several people since.
A cairn terrier (a "Toto" dog)... she's sandy colored and the cutest... our next door neighbors gave her to us. We're very blessed! Yay for cider! That IS something worth many smiles.
Well...not so much! I'm not a fan of Chicago! Our car was broken into, our GPS was stolen and they broke our driver's side window! I was glad to get home! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I'm always up for more thanksgiving but the coffee shop sounds better :P haha. And I'm so glad you're reading the books :D It gives me someone else to talk to about them haha
I am a big Jack Johnson fan. Did you get together with your parents over the holiday? We are looking forward to going to Columbia for the whole week of Christmas...well, the Friday before is our anniversary, and we are planning on going up then. How's things with you?
After standing in line outside in sub-zero weather (well...it was chilly!) for 1 hour and 45 mins, I exercised my right as an American Citizen and voted for......
...Osama Bin Laden...I mean Obama/Biden.
Just kidding. ;)
My legs, feet and toes are slowly defrosting under my desk by my little space heater.
...Now to await the results!!
Have you voted yet?? :)

This is good... :)
It's all about the Ice Cream
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade in 2008. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class
members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Every one applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."
She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.
Every time Barack Obama opens his mouth he offers ice cream, and fifty percent of Americans react like nine year olds. They want ice cream.
The other fifty percent know they're going to have to feed the cow.
I voted this morning. The polling place I wa assigned to was not busy at all, so I was in and out in 10 minutes. Sorry your experience wasn't so good. Maybe you will be living somwhere with a warmer climate in 4 years.
I stood in line 1hr and 1/2. Had a nice lady in front of me that kept me company :) Rodee said either was OK with him so I still have no answer - Guytons were not sure what they are doing. She said she needed to get home and turned around first. Guess we can all huddle tomorrow night!
Wow Jessica, is that ice cream election story true? Weekly Reader should do an article on that for the kids! I'm still hoping for a higher ground of results; check out Eddie's blog.
jess, this made me crack up. I'm seriousy in the middle of the USF library, and people are STARING at me because I can't stop giggling. I love and miss you so much!
We are leaning toward the kind with the freezer on the bottom for our next one. We were given a side by side by some friends and have it in the barn. Its biggest drawback is the width of the freezer - it can not hold a 9x13 cassarole. They made the freezer too narrow so watch that if you go with a side by side. I think the top freezer kind (we have that in the house now) is not as convenient for food storage because things get lost on the back of wide deep shelves. We have a basic GE in the house. The one in the barn is a JennAir.
yeah, we laughed when we saw the *cigar* in his mouth. I agree with the comment above. We have the side by side and you absolutely cannot fit ANYTHING in it! When we bought this one and transfered food from one to the other I knew immediately that I didnt like it! Next time around, I want a freezer on the bottom! Good to get a poll going!
I have to go with the preceding comments. We have a freezer on top now, but want a freezer on the bottom next time. I have had one that was side by side before, and frozen pizzas were some what of a challenge, let alone the 9x13 size dishes. Hope this helps! Take care!
As much as I love the side-by-side, I'd have to vote on a top or bottom freezer. I like to freeze casseroles and I don't know if they're making a refrigerator with a wide enough side-by-side to do that...it's be worth checking into if you have the space. I think the benefit to the lower freezer is because you get into the fridge more often and don't have to bend over, but from the lower freezers I've seen, it seems harder to organize everything...it was almost like a big box that everything was tossed into (I know some have a small shelf). I guess you have to consider what's most important to you. My next fridge will be those big ones that are a side-by-side on top with a freezer on the bottom. : )
We have an LG with the freezer on the bottom, French doors on the top. I love it. No stooping to see whats in the fridge. Plus I can fit platters in the fridge cause it opens so wide. It also has that finish that looks like stainless, but really isn't. So magnets stick to it and it doesn't show finger prints. The freezer has a huge slide out drawer if I need to freeze big things. Plus a nice sized basket. We bought ours at Home Depot. We bought the floor model. It had a scratch on the side that you can't even see, but they took like $250 off the price. .
My house had really old circuitry, so it is hard on appliances with all the surges and such not really tempered much. So I can't tell you how long it would last, we're on our second one in 6 years because of it!
Freezer on the bottom! That way, all stuff you use on a daily basis is more at eye level in the refrigerator. The freezer is also more like a deep freeze drawer that you just pull out. You don't have to worry about things falling out at you unexpectedly! I've always had a hard time fitting things into a side by side fridge. Are you two picking out a new one? Let me know what you decide! :)
Ahhh! I'm so bad about returning comments. I read them, get distracted and forget to reply! Sorry!! So, the only weekend we have open until January is Nov. 22. I know... PATHETIC. But hey if you guys are around we should hang out sometime that Friday night or Saturday. If not, then I guess we probably won't see you til '09! :(
I have a side by side and I'm NOT in love with it! I don't like the tiny freezer space - it is so hard to fit everything in it and some things are quite tricky. My next one will be the french doors on top with the freezer on the bottom. I love how big the refrigerator is on those models.
Thanks so much for all the input! Unfortunately, the freezer-on-bottom is probably going to be out of our budget price range for now...so I think I'll stick with the standard freezer on top, which is the kind we have currently...maybe just upgrade to a larger size model. I'm definitely going with the color black, and hope to get our new (or gently used) fridge soon!! :)
Thanks! Maybe I'll be able to head down to Atlanta once I get moved to TN :) And for your poll: I like the freezer on the bottom. Since heat rises, it seems like the smarter thing to do (but I have no professional information to back that up)
you didn't!?? I thougth I sent one!! I love the scarf. Last night I thought it looked smokin with my red jacket. It wasn't xmas green. I loved the combo.
Praise God that we have refrigerators and don't have to walk to the store for our food every day. I mean it! But if you are shopping you might as well get a good one. I think your idea to ask is great. I am going to read the results as well!!
I agree with sille that there may be more space to a side by side but, I hate the fact that my side by side is so cramped while trying to manuver in there. It is deep and the door keeps trying to shut on you while you are digging. My next frig will be a freezer on bottom. G and I have been looking at them saving points to buy one for a while and it will be a while longer. A's frig guy told me that the one I am describing has had a lot of problems. ick.
Our Kenmore has worked perfectly without a glitch for many years. :)
This morning, I let a car out into traffic on my way to work during lovely Atlanta rush hour traffic. The driver of the car I let out was a lady who, to my amazement, proceeded to SMILE and enthusiastically WAVE her thanks. Wow! I was shocked. As I finished my drive to work, I tried to remember the last time I'd had someone actually *smile* at me when I'd let them out in traffic. In the 3.5 years I've lived in the metro Atlanta area, I really cannot remember someone being so happy and appreciative! Maybe a wave, or The Hand, but usually receive NO acknowledgement or thanks whatsoever. I drove along the rest of the way to work happily surprised...definitely a pleasant start to my day. There are still good, nice, happy people left in Atlanta!! :)
However, this afternoon, on my way back to work after running some errands on my lunch break, I came to a stop sign. Looked right, then left, then right and left again. It's a bad location as the oncoming traffic comes around a curve right before the stop sign, but the entire road is curvy and the speed limit accounts for that.
After checking both directions twice and seeing no cars coming, I pulled out. Around the curve comes a car. Going way too fast. The driver blares his/her horn. Repeatedly. The passenger leans her head out the window, flailing her arms, cursing at me. *Sigh.* Unfortunately, this is more like the Atlanta drivers I have come to know.
Aren't you glad you don't have to drive in Atlanta? :) I miss Tennessee...
A real update to come soon...with lots of fun pictures!! :)
Oh, I know that feeling too! And I totally relate to the shock you felt at the pleasant lady! Isn't it sad that nice things shock us nowadays! *Sigh* is right!
You're sweet! The house is nothing special, I just love to decorate. I would love to do that for a living! I'm sure you all had a blast on your trip last week!
hahaha!! Sorry I'm addicted! When I'm not reading, I keep thinking, "Oh, I should call Bella and see what's happening with Edward..." then I realize I'm insane. :)
I am glad I don't have to drive in Atl traffic. Amazing what a few miles north can do for your sanity. I am sure you do miss Tenn. Every time I see another subdivision going up around us, I realize the "country" we moved out into to, is disappearing! Looking forward to your update on your projects!
I love stumblers! How's your toe? Thank you for your encouragement concerning my lessons. One never knows how and when we can be of help to others. But the Scriptures never let us down. I see you are a friend to several mutual friends. Thank you.
They aren't exactly having it.. haha They decided it got too formal so they wanted to drop it a few notches. We're still having asking day, however. I think they're just having something at the gym that we'll just kinda dress-up for. Should be fun.. hah
Yes we do!! I feel like it's been forever since we've seen you guys. And I really do need kitty pictures... I wasn't kidding. ;) Took Angel to the vet this week... the vet said he has NEVER seen anything like her. He guesses she will live forever, lol. That wasn't Elijah's favorite news of the day. Miss you girl... and love you more!
ya, so dad and i hooked up all the computer stuff. The computer was easy but no the internet. it like wasn't working for some unknown reason. so we finally got it all hooked up,(it was like 10) and then dad had to work on the dryer and i had to print em all off and find two more recipes-but that was easy-so the next day my computer lady said that we don't need to have them done till next week. i remember her saying to have them done that week!! lol. little did she know................
